The rule of the tax office is: if filed before April 1, you should receive the (refund) assessment before July 1. The regular deadline is May 1. If you meet this deadline instead of April 1, then you are still in time but it could take much longer before you receive a response from the Dutch tax office.
Here is a brief overview of what you will find below:
1) The year for which we can file your income tax return
2) Your personal details: these will be included in the Data Access Agreement and used for processing the tax return.
2a) Only applicable if you arrived in or left the Netherlands in the tax year we are going to file for you
3) Details concerning your partner, if applicable
3a) Only applicable if your partner arrived in or left the Netherlands in the tax year we are going to file for you
Here we ask you for various documents and other information we need to complete the tax return. If you have any difficulty understanding what we are asking for, links are provided for additional information.
If you would prefer not to receive these messages any longer from us, please use this web page to submit your request. We will then remove you from our database.
Please do not hesitate to contact us should you require any further information or assistance.
Your email containing the required documents should be sent to info@orangetax.nl. Feel free to use the button below to start up an email message and remember to include all of the documents which apply above. Please try to ensure that the total size of the attachments does not exceed 15Mb, thank you. The email address you use to send the documents should be the same one you entered at the top of the tax return form above.
If you would like to make use of encryption or some other method of secure email sending, please let us know in advance if necessary in case extra steps are needed at our end
Our clients can upload their details securely via: https://klantportaal.nextens.nl
If you already have an account, simply log on and let us know about the upload. If not, you would have to let us know that you would like a portal so we can invite you to set one up
Again, we would need to be informed separately about any such arrangements in advance so we can advise or take the necessary steps at our end
The annualnual Income Statement (AIS) is a document stating your annual income, income tax deducted and any applied credits. Your employer will issue it early in the year after the year of the tax return.
Please also give details of benefits with the AIS from the UWV.
NB Salary slips are not the same as an AIS. If you cannot obtain your AIS, we can use your salary slips but these may not be accurate and may be updated by the figures given to the Tax Office by your employer.
If you have foreign income, send us the AIS for this if possible. Otherwise provide salary slips. We also need to know if the work was performed abroad or remotely from NL.
Please inform us about any mortgage details for the year of the tax return by providing us with the annual mortgage statement. This statement can be downloaded through online banking from your mortgage lender. It will state the value per 1 January (or starting date in some cases, if the property was bought during the previous tax year), the value of the mortgage per 31 December of the tax year, and any mortgage interest paid in the same period. This document is often called a Financial summary/overview or in Dutch, "Financieel (jaar)overzicht" or "Saldo-opgave".
Please let us know whether you purchased a Dutch property during the year of this tax return. You are allowed to deduct some of the costs incurred during the purchase of Dutch property.
To do this, we would require the purchase invoice as provided to you by the notary. The purchase invoice is a document, about 2-4 pages long, with figures concerning the purchase of the property. If you paid some of the costs yourself instead of through a notary, please send us these invoices as well, so we can check whether we can deduct them for you. This document is called "Nota van Afrekening" in Dutch.
Please inform us if you have received a preliminary tax assessment. A preliminary tax assessment is one provided to you during the year it relates to. It can result in monthly refunds from the Tax authority or monthly instalments to be made to them. If you received monthly instalments from the Tax authority or if you paid monthly instalments to the Tax authority during the year of this tax return, this was very likely caused by a preliminary tax assessment for that year.
Please provide us with a copy of this assessment if possible. If you are unable to find a copy, you can download one from www.belastingdienst.nl when you log on with your Digid. The document is called “Voorlopige aanslag (+ year concerned)”.
The outcome of the preliminary tax assessment for the year concerned will be settled with the outcome of the annual income tax return for that year. If we do not include the preliminary tax assessment, but you did receive or pay one, the Tax authority will settle this when imposing the annual income tax return outcome.
If not entitled to the 30% ruling or when the 30% ruling expires during the year, please inform us about the values of your assets per 1 January of the tax return year. If needed, we will calculate the assets for the period of the year that they need to be declared.
Included under assets are:
We can work with the official statements, or a summary that shows the values of the assets per 1 January of the tax year concerned.
Official pension funds (only paying out once you receive pension due to your age), do not have to be declared. Government pensions are not considered as assets either.
Some accounts, such as ISA or house saving plan, are exempt from taxes abroad, however these do have to be declared in the Netherlands and will be taxed accordingly.
If you have other assets that you are unsure about, please feel free to ask and we will check what needs to be done.
